ART 200- Introduction Blog, Hi!

Hi! My name is Katelyn Marks, I am from the Fairbanks/Nenana area. I have lived here all of my life, and currently live with my dad as I get through undergrad. I am currently in my junior year and major in Justice and minor in Business Administration. I plan to use this degree to go to Law school within the next 2 years and become a criminal defense lawyer. This has always been a dream of mine and I hope to own my own law firm some day! I love to weightlift, read, paint, explore outside, and be with my family. I am a very introverted extrovert, as I love my alone time but I definitely can be outgoing when I am in public.

This may seem cliché, but this artwork by Van Gogh is so beautiful and inspiring and has been a dream of mine to go to his museums and see this in person!

I love art, and I have always been told I have the "artistic" touch within my family. I mainly like to draw and paint. I have several paintings within my room and I have also done paintings for family members and friends. As a kid I used to draw all the time, and for Christmas, all I wanted was art supplies. Family members began to gift me drawing utensils and also gave me my first easel. I have been to a couple First Fridays within the Fairbanks area and I have been to a couple art museums in other states. Recently I went to the Chihuly Garden and Glass in Seattle, highly recommend! As I have grown older I am more busy and have less time for art, but I dedicated 2024 to getting back in touch with my artistic side!

  2. I love the Chihuly Garden and Glass. I took family there, and they had never been to museum before. I hope you do get to go to the Van Gogh museum. I went there a long time ago - 1982.
